Wedding Day Hair and Make Up

With wedding season fast upon us, I thought it would only be fitting that my next blog should be regarding wedding day hair and make up.  If you or someone you know is looking for a Hair Designer and Make Up Artist there are definitely a few things to keep in mind.

Communication is key with your Hair Designer and Make Up Artist.  You as a bride, should feel comfortable with what your Designer is communicating back to you.  Sometimes, this means that you should bring in examples of hair and make up your looking for.  Also, during your initial consultation with your Designer, you should ask to see some of their work.  I always keep my portfolio on hand for my guests, and also direct them to my online portfolio sources.

Don't feel discouraged if you are so overwhelmed by everything and don't know what direction you want to go.  This is not the first time your Hair and Make Up Artists' have heard this.  They should be able to talk to you and both of you come to a great look for your special day.

Remember to always give all the details to your Hair and Make Up Designers.  Time of the wedding is crucial.  We as Designers need to know when we need to have you and your wedding party ready for pictures.  Whether is be before the ceremony or after.

I love to do on location work, but the sooner I know the better for you and for me.  It takes a lot of time to gather the tools of the trade and get from point A to point B.  And then when your Artist gets there, there is set up and break down time to account for as well.

One of the most important things to remember and to follow through is booking your time with your Make Up and Hair Artist.  For example, wedding usually take place on Saturdays.  Well, Saturdays are most people's days off, so in the beauty industry- Saturdays are booked first.  A lot of brides forget or have Wedding Planners that just think the bride's got this one in the bag.  But, often it falls through the cracks.  Book well in advance for your wedding.  And not just your wedding, your practice run.

Which brings me to the practice run.  You all want your wedding day to be perfect... doing a trial/practice run on your hair and make up a few weeks before the big day can take a lot of the "what ifs" out the the wedding day nerves.

Those are just a couple things to think over when you are planning your wedding.  Now let's get to the fun stuff!

My first wedding of the spring season was Gabby.  And it's so easy when they are this gorgeous and a breeze to work with!  Once again, I was excited to hear that her choice of photography was Brenda with Leap Photography.  She is awesome!  It always puts me at ease when I know the photographer is great... she's just going to make the bride look stunning and of course make me look great too!

For Gabby, I did a neutral palette of browns and natural colors, with a bit of shimmer and a nude lip.  Of course a bit more dramatic for the big day, but making sure the bride feels beautiful and confident.  Here's a couple of the shots of Gabby.  Enjoy!
